Privacy and cookies

Short version: nobody is tracked, nothing is sold, and the only thing this site puts in your browser is your own sign-in.

What is stored in your browser

Your sign-in
a session token
So that signing in to the noticeboard keeps you signed in as you move between pages. Set only if you actually sign in. Until you sign out or clear your browser No — strictly necessary for a service you asked for
The cookie notice
a single yes/no flag
So the notice at the bottom of the screen does not reappear on every page after you have read it. Until you clear your browser No — it exists only to respect your dismissal

That is the complete list. Both are stored locally in your own browser. Neither is sent anywhere, and neither can be read by anyone else.

What this site does not do

If you post on the noticeboard

Signing in means giving an email address, and posting means what you write is published on the site for anyone to read. That is the whole point of a noticeboard, but it is worth saying plainly: do not put anything on it you would not put on the wall of the shop.

The noticeboard and the sign-in run on Supabase, which stores the posts and the account. The site itself is hosted by Netlify, whose servers see the ordinary request information any web server sees. Those two are the only companies involved in running this site at all.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask for a copy of anything held about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted — including your account and everything you have posted. Ask on the noticeboard or through the contact details on the front page and it will be done.

If you are not happy with how a request is handled you can complain to the Data Protection Commission.

Children

The noticeboard is not intended for children under 16 to sign up to on their own.

Changes

If anything is ever added to this site that does track people — analytics, an embedded map, a social media widget, anything of that sort — this page gets updated first, and the notice at the bottom of the screen becomes a real choice that blocks the thing until it is agreed to. Nothing of the kind is here now.
